Day 3: nature walk and cave exploration

Entire day spent enjoying the beauty of Sipi falls area. Explore the caves and also do a hike to the bottom of Sipi falls.

Day 4: transfer to Kitgum

Leave Kapchorwa after breakfast and transfer to Kitgum. You will stop in Kitgum town for the first night because the journey is quite long and continue to Kidepo the next day. This whole journey is not less than 7 and a half hours so you need to know that you will be on a long drive this day.

Day 5: game drives in Kidepo national park

After a nice breakfast, continue your journey to Kidepo National Park which should take not less than 4 hours with minimal stops on the way. On arrival you will have a game drive in the National Park. Possible sightings may include sand grouse, lions, Buffaloes, Jackals, elephants, Jackson’s Hartebeest, Bat eared fox, caracal, cheetah and klipspringer. The bird lovers would probably want to see just more of these. Have lunch and relax for the rest of the evening to kick off the stress of the journey and enjoy the wild.

Day 6: game drives and cultural nature walk

Today you will drive to the border of Uganda and South Sudan and this is one of the best spots for birding. Depending on the season you will also find quite a number of animals cooling off and taking water in the Kidepo River which is surrounded by borussas Palms. The river dries up at times in the dry season. Later on in the afternoon you will also visit the Kanangorok hot springs which lie 11 km beyond the Kidepo River and enjoy the scenery on top of the van with possible sightings of yellow necked spur fowl, canary, mountain buzzard, Ostrich. Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon have a cultural experience that will bring into contact with Karamijong peoples at Karenna and Kapedo. Meet the local elders and have an opportunity to interact with them. They will show you the kraals, the grinding stones and many more interesting items. Return for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Transfer to Murchison falls national park

Have breakfast at your Kampala hotel transfer to Murchison falls national park through Gulu. The drive will take about 5 hours with and on arrival check into your lodge and have lunch.

Day 8: game drives and launch cruise              

Look out for giraffe, buffaloes, oribi, waterbuck, Uganda kob, hartebeest and elephants during an early morning game drive on the northern banks of the park. Return to your lodge for lunch. Day 9: transfer to Kibale forest national

Breakfast early then begin your journey to Kibale Forest national park. The drive will take up most of your day with a lunch stop over enroute.

Day 10: chimp tracking and nature walk

Enjoy searching for chimpanzees in Kibale forest in the morning then return to your lodge for lunch. After lunch you may either have a nature walk in Bigodi swamp or alternatively have a nature walk in the crater lakes region as you encounter local communities.

Day 11: transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park

On arrival check into your lodge and have lunch. After lunch enjoy a game drive in the crater lakes area where you will view lots of birds and wildlife. Possible sightings may include White shouldered cliff chat, Broad-tailed Warbler, common Buttonquail, marsh Tchagra, Curlew Sandpiper, Croaking Cisticola, Eurasian Mash Harrier, Lesser Flamingos, Common Greenshank, African Moustached Warbler, Greater Flamingos, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Little Stint, Southern Red Bishop, Montagu’s Harrier, Gull-billed Tern, Avocet, Pallid Harrier and the Red-capped Lark Uganda kob, occasional elephant, lions, buffaloes and bush backs.

Day 12: morning game drive and launch cruise

Enjoy another game drive in the morning along the Kasenyi tracks then return to your lodge. In the afternoon board a launch cruise on the Kazinga Channel.  Possible sightings of warthogs, large pods of hippos, the sitatunga, Knob-billed Ducks, Squacco Heron, Great White and Pink-backed pelicans, White-faced whistling Ducks, Great and Long-tailed Cormorants, giant forest hog, elephants, a crocodile, topi, waterbuck, buffalo, Uganda kob, leopard.

Day 13: game drive and transfer to Bwindi

Have a guided nature walk in the Kyambura gorge or alternatively with acquisition of a permit; track chimpanzees in the Kyambura gorge. Return to your lodge for lunch then transfer to Bwindi through the Ishasha sector where you may possibly see the famous tree climbing lion.  You will reach Bwindi in the evening and check into your lodge whilst you await to encounter the mountain gorilla tomorrow.

Day 14: gorilla tracking in Bwindi forest

Encounter the mountain gorilla in the thick rain forest. A Silver back weighs 3times as much as an average man thus is enormous. Nevertheless despite being enormous; the mountain gorilla is undoubtedly very peaceful in comparison to other primates. This makes tracking the mountain gorilla reasonably safe. Several families have been fully habituated and are accessible to visitors. Getting to the point where you will view the mountain gorilla is normally hard work since it will require you to be reasonably fit. Nevertheless despite the steep slopes, dense vegetation and slippery passages in case of rain, gorilla tracking can be attempted by adults of any age successfully without any regrets.  After the whole experience both the financial and physical expense are worthwhile.

Day 15: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi area, Uganda.

This day involves crossing over from Bwindi to Kabale the ‘Switzerland of Africa. You will visit the Bakiga museum after lunch at your lodge.

Day 16: Batwa pygmy visit

Today’s activities involve visiting the Batwa pygmy village. Enjoy a canoe ride to and from the village. The pygmies will offer a cultural dance performance and a guide will explain their way of life.

Day 17: transfer to Lake Mburo national park/night game drive

Leave Lake Bunyonyi and drive to Lake Mburo national park. On arrival have lunch and rest then later in the evening have a guided night game drive in the park to view nocturnal wildlife.

Day 18: game drives and boat ride                              

Enjoy a morning game drive where you will view the early risers, then later on return to your lodge for breakfast and later lunch. Have an afternoon boat ride to view hippos, water bucks and birds like African fin foot, African Marsh Harrier, African Hawk, Long Crested Martial Eagles, African Fish Eagles, African Water Rail, Shoe Bill, Papyrus Yellow Warbler, African Darter, Verreuax’s eagle and many more

Day 19: salt lick and transfer to Kampala

After breakfast report for the salt lick nature walk. This walk will give you opportunities to view at least 4 different animal species at anytime of the day as they enjoy licking the salty soil. Transfer back to Kampala with a stopover at the equator for photos.

Day 20: white water rafting on the Nile

Day 21: visit to the source of the Nile and Ssezibwa falls

Enjoy a canoe ride to the source of river Nile in the morning. After lunch drive to Mbalala where you will view the Ssezibwa falls. An onsite guide narrates the legend of these falls that are said to have been born by a woman.

Day 22: Buganda cultural trail                                      

This trail helps explain the heritage of the Baganda a very influential tribe in the central region of Uganda. The trail includes visits to Buganda’s important cultural areas like Kasubi tombs the burial site for Buganda’s kings, Twekobe palace and Buganda parliament.
